Product description

Sometimes it’s the bumps in the road that end up defining our journey. This is the story of Manduka, a company founded on the simple idea that a better yoga mat could make a world of difference.
In 1997, Peter Sterios, an architect turned yogi, discovered a simple, elegantly designed black mat whose combination of firm grip and complete support revolutionized his yoga practice. In honor of the yoga masters who inspired him, he sought to share this amazing product with others.
Peter had always been the beneficiary of great generosity from other yoga teachers. To repay that debt, he sent mats as gifts to many of the teachers he admired including Erich Schiffmann, Rod Stryker, Angela Farmer, Victor Van Kooten, Rodney Yee, and Shiva Rea. The teachers who inspired Peter were his first customers. And in the great yoga tradition, they shared their mats with their students, and a true yoga company was born. Peter chose the name Manduka in homage to his teacher and mentor, Shandor Remete, whose core practice and teaching always included the ancient Hatha Yoga Pradipika pose, Mandukasana or frog. The first time Peter heard and repeated the name of the pose he experienced a sense of childlike joy and delight as the sound rolled off his tongue. The word and the pose were mirror images, simultaneously playful and profound. The joy of Manduka is now spoken in so many countries, all over the world.
The quality and performance of Manduka mats and yoga accessories are still unmatched in the marketplace. They are still crafted using simple, enduring, natural, and whenever possible, renewable materials and a fine attention to detail. Manduka is a company built by and for yoga teachers and their students. We are still evolving, still introducing new products, and still celebrating the spirit and wisdom of yoga teachers and their students. From the road less traveled, something great and meaningful has arrived.
Practice on.

Excellent yoga mat for my hot yogas
I’ve been looking for the best yoga mat for my hot yoga and hot yoga power practices at my local studios in SF and LA. I’ve tried many good brands, finally landed on Manduka after a circle of trial. Manduka branded mats have always been used by studios but I didn’t want to take it for granted just in case i could find something look cooler, and has good grip, and easier to carry around and clean. With that said, this pro travel mat is super light weight, good enough for my padded studio floor, easy to carry around in hilly SF, easy to clean after each use, and very good grip which i use a mat towel on top of it and it doesn’t move. However, be aware of the 2.5mm minimum padding, some people might find this too thin and might not be comfortable with certain poses, but it’s non issue for me.I also purchased the ProLite version with more thickness as choice, they are both wonderful to have and am very happy with the brand.

Bulky but still wonderful
Love the mat… but it really does not fold up small. This takes up a lot of room in my carryon… which is what I use for luggage. I don’t check bags. The photos make it look like it’s really flat. It isn’t. But it’s still a great mat. I’m working around it. If I had to order again…I would get the 1.5 mm travel mat instead.

Manduca Mats are the best and this one does not disappoint
I think it’s going to be a great Mat for me to take to India for a yoga retreat I’m excited it was great grip and it’s a lot lighter than most

Thin enough to layer over a thicker mat.
Great product!

Durable travel mat
I have been traveling with this mat for over 3 years and it is durable and has great grip. It’s a little larger for travel purposes, but it’s durability is worth it

Great for travel, but strong rubber smell
This mat is exactly what I wanted and needed for a travel mat. It has good grip and it’s really compact and easy to pack in my suitcase. My only complaint is that the rubber smell is SO strong! I’ve had it for a week now and when I’m laying on the mat or in child’s pose, the smell can be overwhelming.

Sturdy and lightweight
This doesn’t fold especially well as shown in the product picture since it’s thicker than expected, but a great, sturdy, lightweight mat to keep in the car.

Better than 5mm
Too thick to fold like the picture, but light enough to carry it everywhere
JW –
Has good grip like the regular Manduka Pro but this mat is not great for regular use. The Pro Travel is only 2.5mm thick, compared to the 6mm regular Pro, and is uncomfortable to use. The travel “benefits” (being thin and light) just is not enough to justify the premium on this mat.

This foldable yoga mat is just what I needed. It has the Manduka quality and I can take it with me on my travels. Now I can practice yoga where ever I go. 😀

Thin mat foldable I fit this mat into my carry on luggage and it opened flat without creases. It is slippery so I suggest salt treatment twice.

There’s a reason this is Manduka’s cheapest mat. Beginners are going to stretch the hell out of this mat. Not great for Ashtanga but even doing Hatha, it stretches like a rubber band. Very sturdy, however, and returns to square thus far.
